A Special Message from Lourdes Careaga in
Celebration of Social Wellness Month

As the Certification Outreach Program Manager, I have the privilege of building and managing relationships with clinical organizations while witnessing the growth that occurs when nurses are provided with the tools and opportunities to succeed. I am honored to help foster connections between nurse leaders and nursing staff that encourage engagement, advancement, and continued career development.

In celebration of Social Wellness Month, I extend my appreciation and best wishes to my fellow nurse colleagues while offering services and guidance to help facilitate continued professional progression. Throughout this month, I want nurses to feel connected to a supportive community where they are valued and empowered to pursue their goals. Social wellness extends beyond effective organizational communication skills—it is about fostering meaningful connections, strengthening teamwork, and creating an environment where nurses can evolve both individually and collectively.

In my role, I am committed to advocating for nurses by providing access to the pathways they need to enhance their careers. One meaningful way to invest in organizational excellence within the nursing community is through ANCC certification. Certification provides an avenue to advance in nursing while demonstrating expertise and dedication to delivering high-quality patient care. As an ANCC certified nurse myself, I share this commitment to certification and ongoing renewal. To learn more about the certifications we offer, click on the button below:

Once certified, nurses receive the corresponding certification credential—demonstrating their expertise and commitment to the specialty.

    Renewal Requirements

As an important reminder, certification renewal occurs every five years. It is never too early to begin tracking your professional development—your future self will appreciate the preparation. To review the renewal requirements, refer to the ANCC Certification Renewal Handbook. This resource clearly outlines all essential information for renewing or reactivating your certification, including program policies and key criteria for maintaining ongoing competence within a specialty.

Maintaining ANCC certification is a lifelong journey that demonstrates a continuous investment to learning and excellence in practice. It reflects ongoing application of current knowledge, adherence to evidence-based standards, and utilization of strong decision-making and interpersonal skills to support the health and well-being of the populations being served. I wish everyone a happy and productive Social Wellness Month!
