2020 promises to be a milestone year for nursing. In honor of the 200th anniversary of Florence Nightingale’s birth, the World Health Assembly, the governing body of the World Health Organization declared 2020 the Year of the Nurse and Midwife. Organizations around the world are using the occasion to put the spotlight on nurses and the nursing profession. In support of this global recognition for nurses’ valuable contributions to health care, ANA Enterprise will promote wide engagement of all nurses to celebrate and raise the visibility of nursing.
There are many ways for you to participate. Start by watching ANA President, Dr. Ernest Grant’s announcement at the ANCC National Magnet Conference®. It’s also never too early to begin thinking about how you, your colleagues and community can celebrate Nurses Month in 2020. That’s right, ANA Enterprise will extend National Nurses Week to a month-long celebration in May!
