Recently, the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) Commission on Board Certification (COC) evaluated numerous requests to provide distinction and clarity to the credential held by nurses who are ANCC board certified in Informatics Nursing. Accordingly, the COC made the determination that, nurses holding the following specialty certification would be issued the updated credential as listed below:
Credential Awarded: NI-BC
The COC realizes that this change in the credentialing acronym will require nurses holding the above listed certification to make modifications to signature lines, business cards, and similar professional documents. The COC thanks you in advance for your support in making this necessary change.
Please begin using these updated credentials accordingly on your professional documents, and please update any business cards or other previously printed documents as soon as you can reasonably do so. You will receive a revised certification wall certificate listing your new credential, at the time of your next certification renewal. You may print an updated wallet card by visiting www.nursingworld.org and logging into “my account.”
