A Special Message from Dr. Page

Paying Tribute to Veterans and Their Families

As the APRN Education & Faculty Outreach Program Manager, my mission is not only to support APRNs at every stage of your professional journey but also to connect with you and offer a helping hand. In overseeing the 2025 APRN Webinar Series, Leading Through Change, I reflect on how much I have learned and feel fortunate to manage and participate in a platform where nurses both learn from and inspire one another.

Today is especially meaningful as it is Veterans Day, and I had the pleasure of hosting our impactful webinar, From Homefront to Healthcare: Building the APRN Capacity to Support Military Families and Lead Precision-Cancer Prevention. The webinar was divided into two presentations, providing attendees with valuable insights into military culture, family life, and health concerns such as ovarian cancer.

My goal is to develop innovative ways to provide you with practical content that you can apply to your knowledge and practice. I hope you were able to attend today’s session and that you found it informative and engaging. A special thank you to our guest speakers for their contributions:

I Serve 2: Identifying and Caring for Military-Connected Children—It's a Matter of National Security

Presented by:
Alicia Gill Rossiter, DNP, APRN, FNP, PPCNP-BC, FAANP, FAAN

Dr. Rossiter's presentation effectively advanced awareness and competence in caring for military-connected children, successfully integrating evidence, advocacy, and actionable clinical strategies. It exemplifies ANCC’s mission to empower APRNs through transformative education that supports national well-being and the healthcare continuum for veterans and their families.

The Silent Whisper That Roars: Strategies for Early Diagnosis and Treatment of Ovarian Cancer for Better Health Outcomes

Presented by:

Petrina N. Harrison, DNP, APRN, AGCNS-BC, CIC

Dr. Harrison's presentation delivered a compelling synthesis of science, compassion, and leadership. She effectively translated emerging ovarian-cancer research into actionable clinical strategies while amplifying the nursing voice in oncology innovation. By addressing disparities and integrating policy levers for early detection, she exemplified the ANCC Leading Through Change initiative’s purpose—empowering APRNs to lead system transformation and improve women’s health outcomes on both national and global scales.

I would like to extend a special thank you to all of our veterans and encourage you attend our APRN Webinar Series. To learn more about how my team and I can support you in your professional journey, please explore the resources available:
